WEPEX/Lab is our in-house digital engineering practice — 1,000 software and systems engineers building the platforms that let Wepex design, construct, and operate infrastructure at a scale that would be impossible with traditional methods. Because a 22 km tunnel needs a 22 km digital twin. Our platforms cover BIM coordination, real-time construction monitoring, autonomous plant control, and asset lifecycle management. Every Wepex division uses WEPEX/Lab tooling, and an increasing number of clients license our platforms directly.
The practice is organised around four platforms — WEPEX/Design for computational design and BIM coordination, WEPEX/Build for real-time construction monitoring and control, WEPEX/Operate for predictive asset management, and WEPEX/Autonomous for robotics and autonomous plant control. Each platform serves a distinct phase of the infrastructure lifecycle, but all share a common data model, common security architecture, and common integration APIs. This means data flows seamlessly from design through construction into operations — eliminating the information silos that cost the industry 23% in rework, according to McKinsey.
WEPEX/Lab is also an increasingly significant revenue stream in its own right. Six external infrastructure operators now license WEPEX/Operate, generating $47M in annual recurring revenue. WEPEX/Design is being piloted by two of the world's top ten architectural practices. And our autonomous fleet technology — originally developed for Wepex's own construction sites — is now being evaluated by three major mining companies. The lab invests $78M annually in R&D across generative AI for engineering, quantum-optimised scheduling, blockchain-based materials passports, and autonomous marine survey vessels.

Featured projects
Austin Digital Twin Facility
Full lifecycle digital twin of the Austin Transit Operations Centre, integrating BIM models, live IoT feeds from 8,400 sensors, and predictive maintenance algorithms. Reduced unplanned downtime by 41% and extended asset useful life by 6.3 years versus industry benchmarks.
Red Sea Link — Predictive Maintenance Platform
Real-time SCADA integration for the 3.8 GW offshore platform processing 2.1M sensor events per day. Ensemble ML models predict equipment failure 72 hours in advance with 89% accuracy, enabling condition-based maintenance across 400+ simultaneous activities.
Atlanta Transit — Digital Command Centre
Unified construction monitoring and BIM coordination platform serving 12 separate contractor organisations across 4 concurrent work fronts. Achieved 98.3% schedule adherence versus an industry average of 78%. Now licensed by the City of Atlanta for ongoing asset management.
Full lifecycle delivery
WEPEX/Lab operates across the full project lifecycle — from generative design and BIM coordination through real-time construction monitoring, autonomous plant control, and predictive asset management. Our platforms are the connective tissue that links every Wepex discipline, ensuring data integrity and visibility from first sketch to fifty-year operation.
