From cable-stayed crossings over tidal straits to bored alpine tunnels connecting nations, Wepex Civil & Infrastructure is the group's original and largest discipline. We deliver the load-bearing arteries of movement — the highways, railways, bridges, and tunnels that economies depend on. With 484 active sites across six continents, our civil practice alone would rank among the world's top twenty engineering firms. Every project benefits from our four decades of self-performed construction, in-house geotechnical expertise, and the digital delivery infrastructure of WEPEX/Lab.
Our civil practice is structured around four sub-disciplines — highways and interchanges, rail and transit, bridges and viaducts, and tunnels and underground structures — each led by a dedicated practice president with P&L responsibility. This structure ensures deep technical expertise in every sub-category while allowing cross-pollination of methods, plant, and people. The result is a practice that can mobilise a 200-person team to a greenfield site in under 72 hours and deliver at rates that consistently outpace industry benchmarks.
Geotechnical engineering is a particular strength. Wepex maintains one of the industry's largest in-house geotechnical teams — 320 specialists who design and supervise ground investigation, slope stabilisation, dewatering, and foundation schemes across every soil and rock type. From karstic limestone in the Middle East to soft Bangkok clay, from Norwegian gneiss to Houston gumbo, we have seen it, tested it, and built on it. This depth eliminates the single largest source of cost and schedule risk on civil projects: the ground.
